Tom Walsh has established himself as a respected figure in player development, scouting, and hockey operations across multiple levels of the game. With more than a decade of experience, he has built a reputation for identifying top talent and helping players progress through junior, collegiate, and professional pathways.
Walsh began his career with the Islanders Hockey Club, serving as Head Scout from 2013 to 2016. During that time, he also took on coaching responsibilities as an Assistant Coach for the U16 and U18 teams, developing a hands-on understanding of player growth both on and off the ice.
From 2016 through 2022, Walsh served as Vice President and Part-Owner of the Militia Hockey Club while simultaneously working as a Scout for the Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL). His leadership helped shape the Militia into one of the region’s most recognized developmental programs, emphasizing skill development, character building, and advancement opportunities for players at all levels.
In 2021, Walsh expanded his coaching career by joining Salem State University (NCAA Division III) as an Assistant Coach, a position he continues to hold today. During his tenure, he has contributed to the growth of the program and mentored countless student-athletes pursuing collegiate and professional aspirations.
Previously, he also served as Assistant General Manager for the Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) and Head Scout for the Corpus Christi Ice Rays (NAHL), where he played an integral role in roster construction, player evaluation, and long-term organizational development.
Today, Tom remains active in the game and looks forward to developing the Lumberjacks into the top spring/summer program on the East Coast!
Originally from Frisco, Texas, Keagan O’Donoghue moved to Boston at 17 to play under Tom Walsh with the Militia program. He went on to compete in junior hockey with the Bridgewater Bandits of the NCDC before playing four seasons at Salem State University. For the past three summers, Keagan has been an integral part of the Boston Lumberjacks coaching staff, where he combines his playing experience with a strong focus on player development and on-ice skill training.
Hailing from Medford, Massachusetts, Shane Taddia developed his game through the Middlesex Islanders program in the EHF Elite. He played one season at BB&N before continuing his prep career at Thayer Academy, where he competed for four years. After graduating, Shane joined the Boston Jr. Bruins in the NCDC and now plays collegiate hockey at Salem State University. In addition to his playing career, Shane has built valuable coaching experience, spending last summer running camps with one of the largest player development organizations in the country.
Paul Marino Sr. has been deeply connected to the game of hockey throughout his life—as a parent, coach, adviser, and scout. His greatest pride comes from raising two sons who both advanced to the NHL: John, currently a defenseman for the Utah Mammoth, and Paul Jr., a Hockey Analyst with the LA Kings. Both sons also attended Harvard University where John manned the blue line and Paul Jr. worked with the coaching staff. After their collegiate careers, Paul continued his involvement in the sport by advising hockey families and helping guide players through the development and advancement process. He joined the Lumberjacks coaching staff last summer and brings a wealth of experience, insight, and passion to the upcoming season.
Zach Whitehead is currently in his senior year at Middlebury College, where he continues to balance his academic and athletic pursuits with a growing passion for player development. Zach has been part of the Lumberjacks coaching staff since last season and also works with one of New England’s premier player development organizations. Before college, he played prep hockey at Kimball Union Academy and junior hockey with the Maine Nordiques (NAHL). The son of longtime University of Maine Head Coach and current Kimball Union bench boss Tim Whitehead, Zach brings both strong hockey instincts and a deep understanding of the game to every team he works with.
Sal Caterina has been immersed in the game of hockey since he first hit the ice at just three years old. Growing up in the Boston area, he competed for many of the region’s top programs before advancing to play junior hockey with the Boston Jr. Bruins. Over the past five years, Sal has been heavily involved in player development, running skills sessions and working with athletes across multiple age groups. He entered the AAA coaching ranks as an Assistant Coach for the U15 AAA Boston Hockey Academy team last season, bringing energy, knowledge, and a strong commitment to helping young players reach their full potential.
Mason Adams has spent his entire life immersed in the world of hockey. Following a successful high school playing career, he transitioned into coaching while attending Southern New Hampshire University, where he served as a student-coach throughout his four years of study. After graduating, Mason began his full-time coaching career at the junior level in the Eastern Hockey League. He currently coaches at a hockey academy, focusing on player development and skill progression. Passionate about helping young athletes grow both on and off the ice, Mason is excited to work with a younger group this spring and summer as part of the Lumberjacks program.
Will McNally brings over a decade of experience in player advising and talent management to the Lumberjacks organization. He is a partner at CEM Sports Management, where he serves as an agent and adviser to players at various levels of the game. Before his work in player representation, Will spent time as a scout for the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL, gaining valuable insight into player evaluation and development. A native of Northborough, Massachusetts, Will is a graduate of Newbury College and remains passionate about guiding players toward success both on and off the ice.
Jimmy Currier brings extensive coaching and playing experience to the Lumberjacks program. He has served as the Assistant Coach at Salem State University (NCAA Division III) for the past six seasons, where he has helped develop and mentor collegiate athletes at a high level. As a player, Jimmy competed for one season at the University of Southern Maine before transferring to Salem State, where he played three seasons. A St. John’s Prep alumnus, he also skated for the Islanders Hockey Club in the USPHL during his junior career. Prior to his time at Salem State, Jimmy spent a year working full-time in player development with the Militia Hockey Club, building a strong foundation in skill instruction and athlete growth.
Originally from Lake Tahoe, California, Zach Dill developed his passion for hockey at a young age before moving to the Boston area at 16 to pursue AAA competition. He went on to play U18 hockey with the Nashville Jr. Predators in the Tier 1 Elite League and later advanced to the NAHL with the Corpus Christi Ice Rays. Recruited by Tom Walsh, Zach joined Salem State University, where he is now a senior and a key contributor both on and off the ice. For the past three summers, he has been an active member of the Boston Lumberjacks coaching staff while also working with various hockey camps, helping young players develop their skills and love for the game.
Ryan Barrett is a Wilmington, MA native whose passion for the game has driven him through every level of his hockey journey. A standout at Wilmington High School, Ryan went on to play junior hockey with the Islanders Hockey Club in the USPHL before continuing his career at Salem State University, where he is now a senior.
Ryan brings energy, enthusiasm, and a strong hockey IQ to the Boston Lumberjacks coaching staff. Entering his second summer with the program, he is committed to helping young players grow both on and off the ice. Ryan’s approach centers on development, positivity, and building confidence—making him a valuable mentor for the next generation of Lumberjacks athletes.
